Cet après-midi, les #giletsjaunes ont pris des matériaux de la zone de restauration de #SaintGermaindesPrés pour créer une barricade enflammée sur #boulevardsaintgermain.  Photos et vidéos en dessous.

A view from my window on February 6, 2018. The snow continued into the night and Paris was beautiful! (I was told it was nearly impossible to find a taxi though…it seems they are not used to driving in the snow here!)

I looked out my window this afternoon to see a large plume of ominous looking smoke billowing up behind the bell tower of St. Germain des Près.  I grabbed my camera and went down to investigate and discovered an even larger crowd of onlookers and a busy team of first responders on the scene.   There was significant fire in the bookstore La Hune…those poor books!  I didn’t have a long lens with me, but I worked my way through the crowd to the front of the barricade just in time to snap a few photos before the police started yelling at us, “Get back!  If it explodes you’re all dead!”  (I took the liberty of translating that into English).  Not wanting to be dead just yet, I headed across the street to do my grocery shopping and let the firefighters and life-savers do their work.  When I returned shortly after, the fire was under control, but there was still lots of commotion and a very curious crowd.

On my last trip to Vancouver to shoot for some of my Canadian clients, I had the great pleasure to work with the ever-so-talented Krystle Dos Santos.  Not only can she sing fabulously and bring the stage to life, she can also do some magic for the lens.   We were very lucky to have the opportunity to shoot in one my my favorite music venues in Vancouver – Guilt & Co in Gastown – where you can often catch Krystle performing.  Looking forward to Krystle’s show there on Oct. 4th!
