I am very sad to hear that some of the companies in the Nikon Group in Japan have suffered damage from the massive Earthquake. Some of the employees have also sustained injuries. I’m sure that Nikon is doing everything possible to get back up and running, but it can’t be easy with the regional infrastructure left in such a state of devastation. From what I can tell, the plant responsible for the manufacture of Nikon cameras is in Sendai, which was hardest hit by the disaster.

I fear that I will be waiting a little longer than expected for my next camera upgrade – of course, that’s hardly something to complain about when so many people have lost family, friends, homes and their livelihood.  I will try to post updates regarding the recovery of Nikon’s operations in Japan, for my fellow Nikon shooters.

Here’s a sampling of some editorial photography I’ve shot for APEGBC, the Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of BC.  I really, really enjoy shooting for them.  What a great group of people and the assignments are always fun.  I shoot some events for them also.

Today my membership application was approved to join CAPIC (The Canadian Association of Photographers & Illustrators in Communications).  I’m very excited to see what new developments this association might bring to my business and to my career.  They put on great seminars for professional development and offer lots of opportunities for networking with fellow photographers.  I’m very pleased to be a member.

Take a look at some photos from my recent session with the lovely Carolina.  Our talented make-up artist was Amanda McGowan and Carolina’s gorgeous locks were styled by Rhi Yee.

Angelica and I hit the town for some warm weather location shooting.  We visited Chinatown, Gastown, Granville Island and Jericho Beach all in a matter of a few hours!  Phew!! Then some sushi afterward to reward ourselves.  I love summer shooting.  I wish there was more time for it!
